September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Let's do our part and raise awareness for Childhood Cancer issues, money for a local non-profit that supports our local families fighting this disease, all while we are raising our fitness to the next level!
The "Warrior 62" is a 62 mile fundraising ruck/walk from the American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin to Freeport, IL. 62 miles?!?!?! That's right, but this event is meant for ALL fitness levels and abilities to be able to participate. We kick off the event with a 1.7 mile walk from the Children's Hospital to the UW Badgers Fieldhouse. Everyone who participates in the first 1.7 miles of the event will receive a 1.7 mile starter patch!
Those who wish, can continue on as we walk through downtown Madison for another 5 miles to get to the beginning of the Badger State Trail. Those who walk/ruck with us to this point will receive the city patch!
This is where the fun starts for the Hardcore Ruckers, as we hit the Badger State Trail. This trail will take us all the way to the end of the 62 miles where we will finish at Tutty's Crossing Trailhead in Freeport, IL. Everyone who makes it to the end receives the coveted Warrior 62 patch! For more information about how to register, why we are doing this, logistics of the ruck/walk, and how to raise money, please see the FAQ categories below. We look forward to seeing you in Madison this September!
Our local childhood cancer kids have to travel out of town for all of their treatment, to places like Madison and Chicago. This creates a logistical nightmare on top of battling childhood cancer.
We are going to Ruck 62 miles to raise awareness to the challenges created by the lack of Pediatric Oncology services in our community. We are also showing our little warriors that we see what they are going through!
Participants are raising $ for the 501C3 K Cancer Baseball. All $ raised goes directly to support local families battling childhood cancer. This support is different for every family. It may be providing gas cards, car repairs, parking, food during travel, home modifications, etc.
The easiest way to do this is to create a gofundme campaign. When you create your gofundme, select K Cancer Baseball NFP as the non-profit you are supporting. Here is a youtube link with directions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4l8kbAI7Fzs
